Regarding Dragon Flies, Phoenix Dances…

edit: Xiaoxiao novels will be picking up Dragon Flies, Phoenix Dances! Yippee :D. I’ve updated our project page to reflect the link as well. Thank you all for your support on this series <3. Pu Er and I will post more stuff soon, look forward to them!

tl;dr: DF,PD will be translated by another dedicated group once confirmed. MMQL is also dropped. Caged Bramblings will still be translating but series are currently unconfirmed.

Hello all. As many of you have noticed, it has been a few months since we’ve released the last chapter. I sincerely apologize to all of you since it ended after such a huge revelation. It’s not that I didn’t want to translate more, but I did get busy and I wasn’t sure if someone else was going to pick up the series, so I wasn’t motivated. When I started translating this series, it was because no one else had picked up it up so I decided to do it myself. But with my paltry Chinese knowledge, translating is a long and arduous process for me. However as of today, there seem to be two interested parties who would like to pick up Dragon Flies, Phoenix Dances. I’m extremely ecstatic because it means DF, PD will be getting dedicated and consistent releases (hopefully). I’m waiting to hear back from both of them and will promptly announce the future of the series soon.

Another status update is that Pu Er is too busy to translate so Man Man Qing Luo will also be considered a dropped project.

We will still be translating, but I’m still deciding on a series. I might just pick up projects I find interesting that have been abandoned, and translate slowly until it catches someone else’s attention. I would like to thank you guys for the overwhelming love and support shown to us, and to DF, PD. I think it’s a lovely series and I’d love to see it completely translated! If you can, leave a positive review for it on NU (novelupdates).

Peace,
Ju Hua

Chapter 31

Another heart-wrenching and emotionally charged chapter. Even though I know the mother is trying to make things better, I hate that Feng Ning, and our new lovely Bao’er are going to be the ones who suffer. And Long San!! Gahhh. I will leave the rant about him until next chapter, because the next one is from his POV! Overall: щ(ಥДಥщ) WHY!!!

Here you go: Chapter 31

This chapter was also long! After going through these chapters, on average, they’re almost 3-4k words. It might not sound like a lot, but it comes out to nearly 6-7 pages of English lol. While I don’t want to make it an excuse, because there are plenty of other translators who translate quickly, but my paltry language skills makes me translate slowly with such length, so please forgive me.

I am a panda by nature… so being lazy is my motto.

…I also need some cookies and tea. ( -̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥᷄◞ω◟-̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥᷅ )

DF, PD ch. 30

Hello all. Ju Hua here again : ). Here’s the next chapter of DF, PD! I’m sure you guys will kill me but there’s a major cliff here, and also some very big revelations or some very big questions! I feel terrible for Feng Ning :(. I’ve read ahead a little (not too far) but it seems like the next few chapters will be emotionally charged. I’ll do my best to translate a little faster, but in the meantime hang on!! xD.

As a note, for those of you who know people who visit novel aggregation sites, they also profit from ad revenue so simply visiting their sites are allowing them to make money. Please tell them to stop visiting those sites and instead use Novel Updates to catch up on their novel needs, which is also supporting and respecting translators as well. Thanks~!

DF, PD ch. 29

Hey guys! Looks like I pulled a disappearing act and got lost :’D. /sweats

As you can see, we’ve had a layout change. While I did like the previous one, I felt like it was a little hard on the eyes? I hope you guys are okay with this. It has also come to our attention that people are stealing translations from translators, and there are even some that are profiting off of them without being involved in the translating process. While I understand that this is the internet and there is no way to completely prevent thievery (unless you want to go through long legal sessions to which you will probably lose out) I do ask for all of our readers to be courteous and not support the people who are making money off of free translations that they didn’t even have any part in. The translators in the novel community all put in a lot of their time and effort into translating, so please do all of us a favor and spread the word. Tell your friends, family, lover, pets (lol). And if you plan to re-post, please at least link back or credit us. It’s a little sad to see your hard work get stolen by other people without a single word of acknowledgement!

In any case, here is chapter 29! It’s HILARIOUS. I have to say, Feng Ning is growing to be one of my more favorite heroines. Addtionally, there are huge improvements in their relationship, as well as more mysteries! I have also decided on a different method for word explanations. Please let me know if this format is better or if you guys would prefer the previous format. Thanks~

DF, PD Ch. 28

Whoooo, made it for a week! Here’s a dose of sugar for those of you who enjoy the sweeter interactions between Feng Ning and Long San :). Also in this chapter I know I used Feng’er and then Feng Er. So adding an ‘er to someone’s name is a way of endearment. I felt like Long San, before he dodged the topic by deciding that Feng Ning’s alias was Yang Feng Er, was calling her in an affectionate way. Anyway, let me know if there should be any corrections! As always, I am learning as well :).

Oh… and also, a two-year old, huh? Oh Feng Ning ;).

Chapter 28

PS. I think DF, PD needs more love on novel updates!

Yours truly,
Ju Hua

DF, PD ch.27

Hi guys, my greatest apologies for the long duration of silence. As unfortunate as it is, I have been a bit busy and didn’t have the chance to translate as much as I wanted to. Without further ado, here is chapter 27. I feel the connection between the two slowly growing stronger, especially on Long San’s side :). As usual, please give Pu Er some love for helping me edit this. I actually found this chapter a bit hard to translate.

On another note, I am still persisting with this project but it looks like my super idealistic view of releasing once a week will be difficult. So in advance, I am sorry for the slow releases. I will do my best to have at least 1 chapter every couple of weeks or in the month, but if I have them done quicker they will be released.

Much love,
Ju Hua

DF, PD ch.26

Hey guys! I hope you guys are excited for this next chapter. I hate to say it, but this chapter also ends in another cliffhanger! But for those of you who have missed Feng Ning’s bad-ass side, this chapter will be a pleasant surprise. It’s packed with action, and also has some romantic developments. Clickie here. I must also thank my lovely partner in crime, Pu Er, for always making sure these chapters make sense! I’ve also taken into account your replies for pinyin, so for things I can’t particularly describe in English I’ll leave them in their original form :D.

Originally I wanted to get this chapter out a lot sooner but I realize my reading comprehension is preventing me from doing so. Just as a kind of head’s up, I think it’s fair to say DF, PD chapters might come out on a steady weekly basis. But if I can get them done faster, they will go up as soon as possible.

Side note: I’ve been a leecher for a very long time, and I’ve always been grateful for translators. But now that I’m actually translating as well, I have a whole new level of praise and reverence for them, especially for the people who release every day! Translating is some hard business. /sweats

Much love,
Ju Hua

DF, PD ch.25

Alright guys, it’s Ju Hua again. Here’s the next chapter for Dragon Flies, Phoenix Dances! I couldn’t bear to leave you guys hanging but unfortunately this one is also a cliffhanger as well. I think this author just loves cliffhangers! I haven’t read ahead because I’m reading as I translate, so just like the rest of you guys I have no idea what’s going to happen next!

In this chapter I left a word in pinyin (romanized spelling for transliterating Chinese). In my opinion, it’d be nice to be able to translate everything into English, however the Chinese language has so many more expressions and specific addressing than the English language, and as a result English doesn’t carry their equivalent. Would you guys prefer if I left certain words in pinyin (like guniang?) or just translate it to something that fits the context, like Miss? Let me know your thoughts!

Also, thank you so much for all of the encouraging comments! Both Pu Er and I do read them, and it motivates us to keep going!

First Update! DF, PD Ch. 24

Hi guys, Ju Hua here! This is Caged Bramblings In A Pavilion’s first update, and I hope it is one that’s pleasant!  Picking up Dragon Flies, Phoenix Dances is due to Pu Er introducing me to the series. We were both hooked, but after waiting a long time for updates and seeing none, I decided to take matters into my own hands.

While I do have a background in Cantonese, which is a spoken dialect, unfortunately I can barely read the actual written Chinese language. As a result, it takes me much longer to translate a chapter since I have to constantly look words up. However I do believe the translations will be as close as possible to the original text, and I do hope that I will be able to see this series to the end (a whopping total of 82 chapters). I’ll try to update as quickly as I can but please be forgiving if the updates seem slow! If there are any problems or issues please let me know.

Besides Dragon Flies, Pu Er is planning to translate Man Man Qing Luo, so please look forward to that :).

Anyway! I’m sure you guys are dying to know what happens next, so go forth to chapter 24! The bantering between Feng Ning and Long San is too freaking adorable. WARNING: There is a cliff-hanger. I may have the next chapter out in a couple of days. Read at your own risk!
